We spent a good farewell dinner time tonight for Dr Koh and Dr Ong who had been having their attachement at Hospice for three months respectively. One of the farewell statement that raised by Dr Ong that we are the best home care service team in Singapore. It was so moving, indeed.
Lately, we have approximately 150 home care patients and their families to be taken care of. We did realise that the nature of these cases increases their intensity of care. and all diverse cases are needed to be met by our disciplinary hospice team. It isn't easy at all for our team members, though it is a high complement from peer colleagues in the hospitals towards our team.
I could still be able to recall those time in three years back, when i first joined Hospice, i was informed by colleagues that this Hospice is where those rich family would consider to stay with. and most of the needy patients and famlies would choose some other appropriate hospice for their preferred place of care. I was stunned by the uncommon statement. Did we really serve rich patients only, instead of serving all patients regardless of any religion, social status, age and etc?
By now, we have moved and changed the perspective from others professional. They recognise our integrated multi-displinary services in order to manage total pain, not only physcial pain. I value about our teamwork and those invaluable efforts that we have been contributing in. Bravo to my members, who has been going extra mile beyond what we could be.
Once again, i'm so proud to be one of us. Keep it rolling....
